Communication between players can happen on a number of levels. The most likely is that the players will want to talk to each-other. However, seeing the other player and their current state and body language are also important. Communications can also happen in a localised area or over long distances.

Talking

In this game players will be allowed to communicate to each other according to their physical surroundings. For example, you can hear what people near you and in the same room are saying.

People can communicate over distances using aiding devices, (phones, crystal balls) either as part of the game world or in general. The latter I expect to limit, but it seems required to allow the player to not permanently loose each other.

Body language

This is also called "emote" in the world of MUDs. You can perform an actions, cush as smiling or have an appearance, such as looking exhausted.

Psionic communication

This type of communication is treated in the same way as talking over a distance.
